The Constitutional Monarchs of Great Britain and the Prime Ministers that guided them

The “Glorious Revolution” of 1688, was a peaceful invasion. It also heralded a change in the relationship between the Monarch and their advisors. It became a need to work together. These advisors would go onto form political parties – Whigs and Tories (who became Liberals and Conservative Unionists). The firstpolitician named as Prime Minister, Robert Walpole, was followed by others who led our Nation with a little help from their Monarch.

With Alan Berridge, first 5 weeks

D day (planning, execution and aftermath) and Experiences of World War II at home.

The first 3 weeks of these talks will be about D Day, the planners, inventors, wizardsof deception, orchestrators of mayhem, that together achieved unlikely success.

The second 2 weeks will be focused on what happened at home. Was there a darker side to the Blitz? The Dorking Refugee Committee is the story of how one local town welcomed and supported the numbers of displaced people.
